I was born near Stroud, Glos, in the early 50's, moved around a lot, eventually got married, had two children, got divorced and started painting seriously  in  my forties.

Up until that point  I was usually extricating myself from one unsuitable situation after another, but that's what informs my painting - the events that have shaped my life, my psychological and emotional states.

Mostly abstract with some almost recognisable hybrid shapes reminiscent of 'something', the paintings are intuitive; I find the process both playfull and frustrating and mysterious because I don't really  know what will happen; the first random marks lead me into the painting, I let the work tell me what it wants then it becomes an unravelling process of  adding, changing and editing. I'm searching for a disquieting beauty and lyricism, this is my unique signiture.
